European Student Assembly will be meeting for the second time at the European Parliament in Strasbourg from 31 May to 2 June 2023.
Jointly organised by 5 universities as part of the European Universities Community initiative (EUC), the inaugural session of the European Student Assembly (ESA) gathered 275 students from 38 alliances in Strasbourg in March 2022. The participants produced 89 policy proposals that were submitted on the platform of the Conference on the future of Europe and discussed with representatives from the Commission and the European Parliament.
The objective of this first event was to promote the European University Initiative among students, and lay the foundations of a student network across alliances. It gave a voice to students from different countries, backgrounds, fields and levels of study, who were recruited for their engagement and motivation to play an active role in the future of Europe.
EELISA European University was represented by 7 students at this inaugural session and we hope EELISA can be represented on a higher level in 2023.
Applications for the ESA 2023 are open until 4 December 2022. As in the first edition, they will be open only for students who are registered in a HEI participating in a European Universities Alliance. During the first edition, the travel costs of participating students were eligible for a reimbursement under the alliances’ Erasmus+ budget. Students will be informed for the second call. Please note that participants of ESA 2022 can only participate in ESA 2023 as panel moderators.
Further information on the application process can be found here. Please also find attached the handbook produced by the organization here.
