• EELISA will lead to a single European cross-border accreditation – a global model that will bring European engineering, therefore the European higher education as a whole to the world stage.

• EELISA will foster a new generation of engineers that will align smart technology with sustainable needs in order to tackle contemporary global challenges. Professionals and committed citizens will contribute to the transformation of the EU into a fair and prosperous society with a modern resource-efficient economy.

• The new European Engineers will be ready to work within interdisciplinary, multilingual, diverse and pan-European environments.

EELISA focuses on students who will embody the “European Engineer” concept, and therefore aims to provide the following opportunities to member universities and their students:  

EELISA Credentials: The aim is for students to obtain EELISA Credentials as a result of an evaluation of their attitude and behavior toward social challenges as candidate engineers and responsible individuals through interviews conducted by other students and faculty members.

EELISA Degrees: The aim is for member universities to give EELISA degrees to students at undergraduate, masters and doctorate levels, as a result of the academic integration to be implemented through the support of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education – ENAEE.

EELISA Diploma Supplement: In addition to the degrees obtained from the students own university and the EELISA Credentials, the aim is for students to receive an EELISA Diploma Supplement.  The supplement can be obtained by the student upon completion of 30 ECTS credits within the scope of their mobility to the campuses of other member universities of the alliance.

EELISA Communities: The aim to create EELISA communities with the participation of students, faculty members and administrative staff of different departments and units of member universities, as well as external stakeholders. Communities will be formed consisting of multicultural and interdisciplinary working groups, where discussions will be made regarding approaches to tackling and solving a social challenge that includes education, research and innovation components. With the help of these communities, the social awareness of students will increase and enable access to industrial or academic internships in different fields of interest. 

As one of the world’s oldest institutions in the field of engineering education, ITU will reshape the “European Engineer” concept and engineering education within the framework of EELISA, with the active participation of its strong academic staff and hardworking students.
