Institutions of higher education have a fundamental role in producing scientific knowledge. Open Institutional archives allow unrestricted online access to the scientific output of institutions (such as articles, theses, conference proceedings and working documents), as well as making it possible to preserve the institution’s intellectual heritage for the future.

Open Institutional archives allow unrestricted online access to the scientific output of institutions (such as articles, theses, conference proceedings and working documents), as well as making it possible to preserve the institution’s intellectual heritage for the future. The open ITU Academic Archives Titled «Polen» aims to encompass, preserve, and with permission from authors/content owners offer unrestricted access to all academic content produced in all institutes of ITU. These are mainly articles, research projects, conference proceedings, reports, class notes and all post-graduate and PhD theses.
The «Open ITU Academic Archives Policy» was prepared by the Library and Documentation Department under the context of improving open science implementations within our institution, which was reviewed and approved at the University Senate’s 9 December 2021.
