A dynamic, hands-on learning experience designed for EELISA students, staff and alumni who want to lead projects that create real impact across borders and disciplines.

This hybrid program blends cutting-edge project management practices with challenge-based learning, teamwork, and sustainability-driven thinking. Over five immersive days in Istanbul, participants will tackle real-world case projects, collaborate with diverse peers, and gain the tools to manage complexity in today’s interconnected world. Topics covered include:

  • Agile, Lean, and Adaptive Project Management

Instructors

Hür Bersam Sidal

Dr. Hür Bersam Sidal is a Professor in Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Management, Management Engineering Department. She has got a bachelor’s degree and doctorate degree from ITU Management Engineering Department and ITU Science and Technology Institute respectively. Besides many research papers; she gives various lectures in different universities in the field of operations management such as production planning, supply chain management, productivity and project management. Her main research areas are supply chain and reverse logistic network design and advanced issues in project management. Hür Bersam Sidal has taken part in various national and international projects as a project manager and researcher. She has been a board member at the ITU Center for Excellence in Education since 2019.

Nihan Yıldırım

Associate professor in management engineering in Istanbul Technical University. Her research interests are technology and innovation management, management information systems, project management, social innovation, sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship and business data analytics. She is currently a board member of ITU Social Innovation Center, Social Sciences Ethical Board and ABET Programme Coordinator in ITU. She is also a social impact analyst in scientific and social funding programs and an entrepreneurship mentor in acceleration and incubation centers of universities and science parks in Turkey.

Emrah Acar

Emrah Acar is an Associate Professor of Construction Project Management in Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture. He received his PhD degree in 2005 from ITU Science and Technology Institute in the field of construction management. He worked as a visiting scholar at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIIT). He took roles as a researcher in local and international research projects which focused on innovation and innovative learning. He is the Director of the ITU Centre for Excellence in Education and he is a member of the Board of Directors of the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI – sefi.be). Acar’s research, teaching and consultancy activities in the last decade focus on project management, knowledge management and the learning ecosystems of organizations in addition to emergency architecture. Acar has been working as the ITU coordinator of the EELISA European University project (eelisa.eu) since June 2021.

*ITU will waive the tuition fee for up to 10 eligible applicants from EELISA universities who meet the admission criteria.

Tuition fee covers coffee breaks and lunch.

For EELISA participants, travel and accommodation may be supported by your EELISA institution.
Please contact your local EELISA project coordinator beforehand.
Participants who attend at least 7 out of 10 modules of the summer school and who submit the final project report will be awarded a certificate by ITU CEE.
