EELISA Knowledge Bites: ITU Learning Stations Model

“EELISA Knowledge Bites” are gathered by experts from all EELISA institutions to build and expand EELISA communities and solve social struggles in the light of science.  In these meetings, experts from all EELISA institutions give talks on useful topics for building, growing, and teaching in #EELISACommunities. In this week, Assoc. Prof. Emrah Acar will gave us an insight into the ITU Learning Station Model – a model which has been piloted in digital, physical, and hybrid learning environments.

Active learning (AL) environments created in collaboration with external stakeholders can be instrumental for addressing the growing expectations of learners and increasing their satisfaction from learning and learning environments in higher education institutions. It also provides considerable flexibility for ‘learning experience designers’ for incorporating alternative delivery modes and recognizing multiple forms of learning to create active learning environments that mix students, academics, and external actors.

Considering that the Covid 19 pandemic has accelerated the global concerns for the rearrangement of the learning landscape and the search for more flexible forms of administration, the model is key for those who seek alternative models to address the growing dissatisfaction of learners from the mass education system.
